10 Creative Ways To Propose

Posted on: 22/02/2018

We all know that an engagement proposal is a really important life milestone. Proposal memories will last a lifetime so you need to do your best to make it as romantic as possible...

The story of how you proposed will be told to your friends and family for the rest of your lives, and however you decide to pop the question we always recommend putting your own personal spin on the all-important proposal. Read this blog post to discover some of our romantic and creative ideas for a perfect proposal:

Where you first met
Take a trip down memory lane and remind yourselves exactly why you both fell in love in the first place. This is a fantastic way to remember all of the good times and make the moment even more sentimental.

On holiday
Why not propose while the sun is setting before you both, or by writing ‘Will you marry me?’ in the sand. It’ll make a once in a lifetime holiday even more memorable.

Riding a hot air balloon
Make sure they're okay with heights before going for this option! Miles in the air without a care in the world, the peaceful setting and beautiful scenery will never be forgotten. What more could you want from a special proposal like this?

At home
Sometimes the simple things really mean the most. If your partner is a home bird, then cook their favourite meal and set the scene with their favourite music. Spend time together to reminisce about the good times over a candlelit dinner and pop the question after dessert. This idea is perfect for someone who doesn't like much fuss.

Over a candlelit dinner
Most of us love to be wined and dined, so why not pick a fancy restaurant, buy them a beautiful new outfit and surprise them with a 'date night?' Ask the restaurant beforehand if they will write 'Will you marry me?' on their plate for their final course!

Under fireworks
There's nothing more colourful than a proposal under some bright fireworks! If your partner is a big fan of beautiful colours then why not plan on popping the question on New Years Eve or Firework Night?

With a trail of flower petals or candles
Another pretty idea for someone who loves to spend time at home. Create a romantic path from the door to the engagement ring and write out 'Will you marry me?' with flower petals or candles (or both!). Romance at its finest.

With a scrapbook
This is one of our favourites. Put together a scrapbook with all of your favourite memories together. It'd be lovely to include pictures, text, quotes and even tickets from memorable events and trips! On the last page of the book write 'Will you marry me?' This is something they can keep and look back on forever.

With cake!
Everyone loves cake so why not use this in your proposal? That is exactly what one of our very own customers did and we can't get enough of the idea! He paid for the whole presentation box to be made out of cake so it was edible. Delicious!

Over a picnic
If your partner doesn't like much fuss then this would be a very special way to pop the question. Put together a tasty picnic hamper which includes bubbly and chocolate covered strawberries, then take them for a scenic walk and pick a spot with a view. You could say how much they mean to you over lunch or write it down in a romantic letter - either way would be perfect. This is also a great way to incorporate your furry friends if you'd like them to be part of the special moment too.

No matter how big or small you want the proposal to be its all about the message you're putting across to your partner. It'll be something you will both look back on and smile at together for the rest of your lives. We are confident that you'll find the perfect engagement ring (and eventually wedding rings!) online or in store for all styles and budgets.
