What we Collect

When you shop on our website or in store we collect personally identifiable information (PII) that you provide to us. We will ask you to provide PII such as your name, email, address and phone number. When running competitions or surveys we may collect data relevant to that activity.

Whilst browsing our site, third party information may collect information about where you are on the internet. This includes but is not limited to - the URL you came to us from, your IP address, your browser type, the pages of the website you interacted with and the search terms entered into the search box.

This means that your credit and debit card details are only seen by the bank and are not stored by us in any form.

Sharing PII with group companies

Chapelle is owned by Hinds Ltd, which also owns F.Hinds Ltd, trading as F.Hinds the Jewellers. These companies use common systems and your PII is accessible across the group. Each company undertakes not to use your PII for marketing purposes unless you opt into that company's marketing programme.

Sharing PII with Third Parties

In the course of fulfilling an order we use and share your information with selected third parties. These parties include, but are not limited to, Web Media Group (WMG) (digital marketing services), Red Technology Solutions Limited (E-commerce services) and Easypost (postal services, based in the US).

We may also share your PII with our affiliates, contractors and agents in the normal course of business for delivery of the activities to which you have agreed. Chapelle does not believe in selling or renting PII to third parties. Your PII may be transferred to a third party in the event that the Chapelle business and therefore the customer data connected with it is sold or transferred.

Chapelle will take appropriate legal, organizational and technical measures to protect your personal information consistent with applicable privacy and data security laws. As a data controller Chapelle is responsible for ensuring any PII it shares is handled in a secure manner. For the safety of our customers Chapelle does not collect or store customer dates of births, credit or debit card numbers or other information that would be considered highly sensitive.

How we use Cookies

Transferring PII

You should be aware that we may be asked to submit your PII to the police or other agencies if asked for when investigating illegal activities. PII collected may be transferred to, stored and processed in your country of residence or any other country in which Chapelle (including its affiliates), subcontractors or agents maintain facilities, including the United States.

Use of IP Addresses

An IP address is a set of numbers that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you log on to your Internet service provider or through your organisation's local area network (LAN) or wide area network (WAN). Web servers automatically identify your computer by the IP address assigned to it during your session online.

Chapelle, or third party companies acting on our behalf, may collect IP addresses for the purposes of systems administration and to audit the use of our website. We retain the right to use IP addresses to identify users of our website when we feel it is necessary to enforce compliance with the website's terms of use or to protect our service, websites or other users. We may also restrict or block users based on an IP address.

Controlling your Personal Information

Please note the following information concerning what your rights are regarding the personal information that we take from you:

  • Chapelle does not use your information for marketing purposes unless specifically opted in to by yourself

  • If you have previously opted in to receiving marketing emails from us and no longer want to receive them, you can opt out by clicking on the unsubscribe link found in the footer of any marketing email previously sent to you
You have a right to ask what PII Chapelle has on record for you and if you wish for your data to be deleted or amended. If you request your data it will be provided to you in a digital format and must be sent to you within 30 days of receiving your request. Similarly if a subsequent removal request is made it must also be completed within 30 days. You also have the right to request any data to be transferred to a third party under the right to data portability.

When making a request, Chapelle has to take reasonable measures to ensure your identity and this may require you to provide us with additional information such as a current or previous address, email or phone number which we may have on record. We may also ask how you have interacted with Chapelle in the past e.g. have you ordered from us online, shopped in store, worked for us, corresponded with our customer services department etc.

Please note that your right to delete or amend data does not apply where a contract has been performed. Therefore if you have given us your information to fulfil an order or repair online or instore then we have the right to keep a record of that information.

Making a Complaint
