Designer Outlet Centre – Full time supervisor

 

THE CONCEPT  Outlet Centre shopping villages  give manufacturers and retailers the opportunity to sell items directly to the public. All products are sold at substantial discounts from High Street and recommended retail prices.  Being in an out of town location the running costs are kept low and many customers can reach the Village with ease. The result is excellent value for money.

The Jewellery Outlet Ltd is one of a group of companies specialising in the import, distribution and marketing of watches and gold and silver jewellery.  Within our group we have twenty-three jewellery shops in locations throughout England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.  We have extensive experience in jewellery retailing and manufacture and pride ourselves on achieving high standards of presentation and service at all our shops.

The shop specialises in the sale of our own range of gold and silver jewellery and end of season lines from our retail shops and major manufacturers.  A significant part of our business is in branded watches from major UK and European manufacturers who license us to sell their end of lines or old season models.

Supervisor

Full time retail experience is essential for this position preferably in jewellery or a similar product area, where one to one service selling is given.  This is an excellent opportunity for someone ready to take the first step into management.

This is a five-day week post for 40hours per week.    To spread the burden of unsocial work, weekends are shared amongst all the team thus allowing some weekend days free.   It is our policy to plan work rotas at least three weeks in advance so you will not be expected to change hours at short notice except in exceptional circumstances.  If there are any times when you cannot normally make yourself available for work please ensure these are shown on the application form.

Supervisor rates will be paid at a starting rate of £6.89 per hr at 20years (£6.11 at under 20 yrs), rising to £7.25 (£6.52 at under 20 yrs) subject to successful review after three months, pay may be higher for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate.

Four weeks paid holiday (after qualifying period) plus 8 statutory Bank Holidays (or time in lieu).

You will be involved in preparing displays, stock control, advising customers, cash handling and all administration procedures of the shop.  You will also take an active role in maximising the performance of the shop through liaison with your manager, assistant manager and the rest of your colleagues. Your work will include supporting management in the following roles:-

Organisation and display of stock including stock control.

Staff administration including preparing work rotas and training.

Cash handling and banking.

Liaison with head office and Centre management and staff.

Ensuring a high standard of service is provided at all times.

TRAINING

Appropriate training in aspects of jewellery and watch product knowledge plus sales training will be available for all our colleagues.

The supervisor, after a settling in period, will be expected to study towards the JET1 qualification of the National Association of Goldsmiths.  This is a well-respected correspondence style course, which involves home study, and it can lead on to a full Retail Jeweller's Diploma Course.  The company will pay all fees and provide support and books for the Jet 1 course on the understanding that it will be followed through to completion.
