It is not often that the UK’s top sportswomen are given the chance to turn on the glamour and get dressed up for an event.
With so much vigorous training to do to keep their bodies in tip top condition and perfect the skills needed to become the best in the world at their sports, there is not much time left for getting ready to spend a night on the tiles.
But last night they were finally given the chance to swap their trainers for stilettos as they attended the Sports Industry Awards.
The nation’s sports stars were also well represented, as model turned race car driver Jodie Kidd brought some glamour with a ladies designer watch and wide cuff bracelet.
Denise Lewis brought some colour with her purple dress and gold earrings and bracelet, which must surely be a perfect match for the gold medal she won at the Sydney Olympics in 2000.
Taking her place on the red carpet was Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton, who has more than earned her place there by gaining a spot in the record books for the longest solo journey by kayak for her trip along the River Amazon in aid of Sport Relief, as well as later travelling to the South Pole by bike.
Helen decided to leave her kit at home for the evening and instead wore a stunning Grecian-inspired white gown, which she teamed with a gold bracelet and a pair of dangling gold earrings.
Joining her on the red carpet was Sky Sports presenter Georgie Thompson, who went for a glamourous look by wearing her hair in a beehive style and carrying a gold embellished clutch bag.
Some eagle-eyed guests may also have realised she was wearing the same beige embellished dress that Kara Tointon had worn last month when she attended the Laurence Olivier awards.
