Check out our favourite jewels and jewellery from The Oscars, the 2015 Academy Awards

The Academy Awards, hosted in Hollywood last night, is one of the biggest celebrity gatherings of the year. It is the grand finale to a series of glistening awards events including the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the BAFTAs and many more. Many celebrities pull out all the stops for this glittering occasion and it is always fascinating to watch the red carpet to see what styles, and which accessories, they choose to wear. This year was no exception and we’ve picked out some of our favourite looks from the evening below.

Emma Stone

Emma Stone chose a lovely fresh shade of green for her Oscars outfit, which looked lovely against her hair and had us looking forward to sunshine and spring already. She accessorised the look with a pair of chunky silver coloured bracelets with interlocking circular links, bangles and simple studs, and also worked a little of the mixed gold trend that we mentioned in a previous blog.

While we liked her jewellery choices, the real winner had to be the colour which got us thinking of the gorgeous tones of peridot jewelleryThis beautiful pendant would be a perfect way to work this colour into an outfit and the double-drop design separated by a sparkling diamond gives it a real impact that would work well for a fancy do.

Cate Blanchett

Cate Blanchett regularly tops the best dressed lists for these events and this year she showcased another stunning look. Wearing a demure but sleeveless black gown with a high neck and short train, she accessorised with a bold turquoise necklet featuring multiple strands of bright beads for a splash of colour. This deceptively simple but effective style was a real winning look.

Make an equally bold statement with this chunky cultured pearl necklet. Featuring multiple strands of pearls twisted together into a thick rope chain, this beautiful 16” design fastens with a silver trigger clasp and extender chain so you can adjust it to the perfect length. We’ve picked out this necklace for its lovely pale blue and grey tones, but a cream version is also available. There is also a matching bracelet for both the grey and the cream design.

Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson also went for a bold statement necklace, but chose to match hers to the colour of her gown instead of going for a contrasting look. The tumbling waterfall design of this necklace is the perfect complement to Johansson’s dress, picking out the darker green sections and creating a look truly fit for the Oscars red carpet.

Honestly, this stunning creation is very unusual and it seems almost foolish to try and match it. However, if you are in love with the colour and want to make a definite statement too, this stunning emerald and diamond pendant could be just the thing. The striking centre stone is surrounded by 18pts of diamonds, which are set in white gold to maximise their sparkle. This pendant can be worn at either 16” or 18”, thanks to the adjustable chain.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow was another celebrity who went for maximum impact with her accessories, wearing an eye-catching pair of earrings. The large tear-shaped drops are rumoured to cost a whopping $425,000 and had a gem studded outer shape surrounding a red centre stone and made any further accessories unnecessary, although the actress also wore a large ring on her right hand.

Teardrop shaped styles are very popular at the moment and we had loads of choice when looking to copy her style! While slightly smaller than Gwyneth Paltrow’s, the 9ct gold earrings we chose are still a lovely design and would be suitable for a wider range of occasions. With a drop of 33mm, they are pretty hard to miss and the sparkling crystals add the perfect finishing touch to the design. A matching pendant is also available.

Dakota Johnson

Finally, it just doesn’t seem right to discuss the Oscars without mentioning the star of one of the most talked about films of the year, Fifty Shades of Grey. Dakota Johnson chose an outfit fitting to her role with a striking red dress which she accessorised with a large silver cuff and a huge diamond ring to match the metallic shoulder detailing.
