An emerging trend for wearing watches is seeing the number of women buying timepieces increase rapidly.
The rise in the number of designer ladies watches being sold has been noted by Tom Kennett, owner and designer for Kennettonline.com, who said there is a general view across the industry that watch purchases are on the increase.
He explained that a lot of women appear to be keener to wear designer ladies watches as they see it as being another fashionable accessory.
While in recent times people have been using their mobile phones to check the time, Mr Kennet explained that over the last year there has been a “push back and people are wanting to wear watches”.
He added that timepieces in the mid-price range are seeing very strong sales.
A number of celebrities have turned to promoting watches, with tennis player Kim Clijsters recently featured in a new advertising campaign from Citizen watches to promote its spring summer 2012 collection of Eco-Drive designs.
