One of the leading members of bestselling boyband The Backstreet Boys faced tragic news regarding the death of his 25-year-old sister.
Nick Carter will join his brother Aaron in mourning as the musical pair commemorate the life of their recently deceased sibling, Leslie.
The mother-of-one leaves behind husband Mike Ashton and her ten-month-old baby, Alyssa Jane, in addition to two other Carter sisters, Bobbie and nick’s twin, Angel.
The beautiful blonde, who tried to crack the music scene like her brothers, was pictured by the Daily Mail in happier times wearing a silver necklace and earrings.
The cause of the young singer’s death has not yet been confirmed but the Carter family, who appeared in their own reality show House of Carters in 2006, have requested privacy at what is understandably a difficult time.
A statement issued by the Carter brood said: “Our family is grieving right now and it’s a private matter.
“We are deeply saddened for the loss of our beloved sister, daughter and granddaughter, Leslie.”
The death of Leslie must have come as a complete shock to Nick, who has been tweeting upbeat posts in recent days.
Just yesterday (January 31st) he tweeted an image to celebrity blogger Pereze Hilton, in which he sports a new look.
He followed this up with: “I’m growing my hair out, it’s at that in between stage … sorry.”
The Carter family hails from New York, where Leslie is believed to have died, with Nick only celebrating his 32nd birthday on Sunday.
Nick tried out for a spot in the Mickey Mouse Club, like many aspiring American artists, but turned his attention to outright singing as he joined Brian, Kevin, AJ and Howie to form the legendary boyband.
They had a stream of hits in the UK and across the pond with the likes of Everybody (Backstreet’s Back) and Quit Playin’ Games (With My Heart).
