Thank you for your interest in joining our shop.   We hope this information sheet will answer some of your questions.  Once you have read the details please complete the application form and return it to our head office. You may also include a supporting letter if you wish.   We’re looking for someone who will take an active role in developing this store.  Our store at Gloucester is a very successful and established shop with a large number of regular customers. 


Outlet Centre shopping villages give manufacturers and retailers the opportunity to sell items directly to the public. All products are sold at substantial discounts from High Street and recommended retail prices.  Being in an out of town location the running costs are kept low and many customers can reach the centre with ease.  The result is excellent value for money.   Chapelle Jewellery stores stock a wide range of gold and silver jewellery and well known branded watches at exceptionally low prices. 

The Jewellery Outlet Ltd is one of our group of companies specialising in the import, distribution and marketing of watches and gold and silver jewellery.  We have extensive experience in jewellery retailing and manufacture and pride ourselves on achieving high standards at all our shops.  Our outlet stores are an important part of our business selling at substantial discounts from our normal high street stores.  We presently operate twenty-three outlet stores and are the largest jewellery business operating in this specialist area.

Our aim is to provide quality jewellery, presented to a high standard, served by confident and capable staff with exceptional value for money.


This is a five-day week post for 40-44 hours per week.    To spread the burden of unsocial work, weekends are shared amongst all the team thus allowing some weekend days free.

This position is a salaried position at £16,386 per annum rising to £17,203 at a successful review after three months employment.  Any hours worked over 44 per week will be paid at an hourly rate of £7.88 per hour (£8.27 after review).  Pay may be higher for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate.

Five weeks paid holiday  (after qualifying period) plus 8 statutory Bank Holidays (or time in lieu).

It may be that applicants have significant retail jewellery experience or this may be a first post working in jewellery.

An ideal opportunity for someone wishing to take a first step in retail management.  Our policy is that all staff are involved in all aspects of the running of the shop.  The assistant manager/ess will therefore gain broad experience giving support to the manager and the rest of the team to fully develop the shop. 

You will be involved in preparing displays, stock control, advising customers, cash handling and all administration procedures of the shop.  You will also take an active role in maximising the performance of the shop through liaison with your manager and the rest of your colleagues. Your work will include supporting the manager in the following roles:-

Organisation and display of stock including stock control.

Staff administration including preparing work rotas and training.

Cash handling and banking.

Liaison with head office and Centre management and staff.

Ensuring a high standard of service is provided at all times.

The establishing, and maintenance of, a degree of  organisation that will ensure the attainment of maximum sales potential of the shop.

The person appointed will have a positive attitude to work, colleagues and customers.  We are looking for someone who can maximise the full potential of this shop by his or her own enthusiasm and effort.


The assistant manager, after a settling in period, will be expected to study towards the JET1 qualification of the National Association of Goldsmiths.  This is a well-respected correspondence style course, which involves home study, and it can lead on to a full Retail Jeweller's Diploma Course.  The company will pay all fees and provide support and books for the Jet 1 course on the understanding that it will be followed through to completion.
